Nomenclature Note:
Grown from seed collected in Nebraska, USA from a putative F1 hybrid Quercus ×guadalupensis. Selected by Guy Sternberg of Starhill Forest Arboertum, Petersburg, IL. Named for its hybrid origin, cruciform shaped leaves and brilliant fall color.
Description:
Exceptional excurrant growth habit, thick glossy leaves which turn a rich crimson fall color and cruciform leaves are defining characteristics of this cultivar. A putative backcross of (F2) to Quercus stellata.
